How to setup Cisco Router IOS on GNS3

GNS3 is the best simulator to practice for lab.Cisco Certification Exam takers can now able to learn and practice their command lab exercise at home on their Desktop/Laptop Computer PC just like they are working on a real router and switch.

Network Engineers and network administrator can test and check their configuration topology on the virtual devices before applying it to enterprise network.

here is the steps for setting up cisco router and switch ios image on GNS3 version 1.2.3

1. Open Gns3
2. Go to Edit > Preference New window will open
3. Go to Dynamips > IOS Routers
4. Add New > Browse the path of IOS Image an click Next
5. Set the Name and Platform of IOS Image & leave Chassis blank and click next
6. Set you RAM Memory default is 192 click next
7. On Network Adapter Slot you can add Fast Ethernet, Serial Interface, ESW (Ether Switch) module (For Switch functionality) click next { Note :-Add ESW Module to get Switch Function}
8. WIC card leave blank click next
9. Ideal-Pc Value Leave blank click Apply and Ok
10. That’s It now you can drag the router on GNS3 and Start it and right click on router and click on console to get terminal client Putty
